Out of the Mouths of Babes

While driving home from Garrett's basketball game today we decided to stop and have breakfast. We were heading to a local bakery/mexican food resturant when the topic of chocolate covered donuts was brought up. Meagan asked if she could have a donut for her snack this afternoon. Her dad told her that if she ate the spinich we were having for lunch she could have whatever she wanted for a snack. Garrett made some comment about spinich to which Meagan replied, "You don't even know what spinich is Garrett." He comes back with, "Yes, I do! Grass!" All I could do was laugh!

Some cute things Garrett is saying right now

Garrett is five and, when at home, talks nonstop. This is sometimes still surprising to me because he didn't talk until he was three. I know, I know, this isn't really late at all, especially for a boy, but when your first child could hold a conversation with you at 18 months, three seems to be a bit late. I say he talks nonstop while at home because he is really shy when out in public. He refused to answer his teacher for the first semester of prekindergarten. He is just now talking in small groups and still doesn't answer when the whole class is together on the carpet.

Anyway, Garrett is saying some really cute things right now.

Teenage Mutant Engine Turtles

Kintar for guitar

No way cowzae!

ructions for instructions

He is also very independent about brushing his teeth and combing his hair. I told him his friend was coming over today and he went straight to the bathroom and combed his hair.

Did I mention he's also throwing fits when things don't go his way lately? I mean drop on the floor, kicking and screaming. Sometimes, like right now, they are over instantly, and sometimes they seem to last forever.

In the beginning . . .

Well, starting a blog is something that I have thought about for a while now. I used to really like journal writing when I was a kid and to me this is very similar. I also really like reading blogs by all sorts of people because I LOVE to read and this is free! I am a cheapskate when it comes to puchasing books so finding a good blog is like finding a good book that is free.

I am a little afraid that I will open my big mouth (well big hands) and post something that I really shouldn't. And the thought of people reading my writing and then possible criticizing it scares me a little.
